Song Inside My Head
02:13
|
|||
I woke up this morning with a song inside my head
It made me feel so happy that I jumped right out of bed
It tells a little tale about a princess and an elf
I don't know where it came from but I made it up myself
I sang my song at breakfast time and all the way to school
And everyone who hears it says, That song is really cool!
It's got a lovely melody, I hum it all the time
It's got a catchy rhythm and a lot of words that rhyme
My song has low and high notes, are you hearing which is which?
Well, just in case you're wondering, the word for that is "pitch"
The tempo is terrific, not too fast and not too slow
It's just the kind of song that makes you dance from head to toe
So take a string and stretch it, and you'll find what I have found
By strumming it and plucking it you're going to make a sound
You're starting a vibration that makes ripples in the air
Those ripples hit our eardrums and there's music everywhere!
I go to Corpus Christi, I'm a student in Grade Two
If I can make a song up in my sleep then so can you!

Joey
03:31
|
|||
I have a dog named Joey
He is a friend of mine
He's not what you'd call showy
But, man, that dog is fine!
We got him as a rescue dog
When he was four years old
And now it's twelve years later
And he's as good as gold!
Chorus:
Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey
Anyone can see that
No one in this whole wide world . . .
Is luckier than me!
His coat is white and lovely
He doesn't bark or bite
When people come to visit
He always acts polite
Sometimes I take his leash out
And take him for a walk
And by the time we've finished
We've gone around the block
Before we got our Joey
His life was kind of tough
But since he came to join us
It's not what you'd call "ruff"!
We like to cuddle on the couch
And watch things on TV
I love that little Joey
Yes, he's the dog for me!
When Joey's feeling hungry
I never make him wait
I go and get his food out
And put it on a plate
I give him lots of water
So he won't get too dry
Some people say he's lucky
And I say, So am I!
Now Joey is a little dog
With one gigantic heart
If you need love and comfort
He'll gladly play his part
He is a true companion
A good friend through and through
And I can say sincerely
I love him, yes I do!

Bruce's Loose Tooth
03:21
|
|||
Oh, once there was a little boy, his mother called him Bruce
Who reached inside his mouth one day and noticed something loose
I find this unacceptable, he said, There's no excuse!
If this keeps up I'll have to live on jelly, jam and juice
Jelly, jam and juice, jelly, jam and juice
If this keeps up I'll have to live on jelly, jam and juice
His mother said, It's wobbly but there's no cause for alarm
In fact, I'd say that prob'ly it will not do any harm
And when that tooth falls out, it will be like a lucky charm
Unlike the time your baby brother bit you on the arm
Bit you on the arm, bit you on the arm
Unlike the time your baby brother bit you on the arm
A lucky charm? said Bruce, That's very funny, haw haw haw!
Oh sure, it makes more space for sipping cider through a straw
But what if I get hungry, and feel the need to gnaw?
For teeth to lose their grip like this should be against the law
Be against the law, be against the law
For teeth to lose their grip like this should be against the law
Now Brucie dear, his mother said, it's time to face the truth
The loss of dental objects is a ritual of youth
It happened to your friend Celine, Samantha, Steve and Ruth
They wriggled and they giggled every time they lost a tooth
Time they lost a tooth, time they lost a tooth
They wriggled and they giggled every time they lost a tooth
Ok, said Bruce, I guess I'll say goodbye to this incisor
Although I love my pearly whites, I shouldn't be a miser
Next time I smile at Granny, I will certainly surprise her
And when my head is emptier, they tell me I'll be wiser!
Tell me I'll be wiser, tell me I'll be wiser
When my head is emptier, they tell me I'll be wiser
The "molar" of this story is that teeth cannot be trusted
One morning you wake up and find you're missing a bicuspid
When Bruce found out the truth at first he felt a tad disgusted
But after chewing on it, he announced he had adjusted
Felt a tad disgusted, felt a tad disgusted
After chewing on it, he announced he had adjusted

Felix Unger
02:09
|
|||
A music-loving gentleman whose name is Felix Unger
For fiddle tunes has always had an overwhelming hunger
He used to play the fiddle and he frequently re-strung her
To sound his best when serenading Molly, the fishmonger
Felix Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger
Felix Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger
But Molly is in prison now, that's where a jury flung her
For going on a rampage when a giant hornet stung her
Poor Felix phones her every day, and after he has rung her
He tells himself again he will not rest till he has sprung her
Felix Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger
Felix Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger Unger
Now Felix dreams of Molly and the days when they were younger
Remembering her smiling at the songs that he had sung her
And once again he hums the tunes to which he gently swung her
At all the old-time country dances to which he had brung her!

Bibliophile
02:37
|
|||
Long ago and far away when I was very young
I set out on a journey of adventure with... my Mom
We went into a building that seemed magical to me
A place of joy and wonder called the public library
Chorus:
I'm a bibliophile, books are my kind of style
Every chapter and verse, whether wordy or terse
Makes me sparkle and smile
I'd walk many a mile, even swim down the Nile
Just to get a good look at a library book
I'm a bibliophile
Oh how I loved the stories to be found on every shelf
I lived a thousand lifetimes as I learned about myself
I travelled to Green Gables and to Narnia and Oz
Drawn deeper into Wonderland with every word, because...
Chorus
Like pages turning one by one those early years have flown
And now I have three darling little children of my own
We go to the library six or seven times a day
And if you come along some time, you'll probably hear us say...
Second chorus:
I'm a bibliophile, books are so versatile
On the bus or at home, every volume and tome
Is immensely worthwhile
If I had a whole pile on a desolate isle
By the time I was through they'd be long overdue
I'm a bibliophile
By the time I was through they'd be long overdue
I'm a bibliophile
Book... book... book! Read it... read it... read it!

Pink
02:04
|
|||
When... I'm at school or at the park or at the hockey rink
Or riding on the bus or washing dishes in the sink
My clothing is coordinated with one common link –
No matter where I go, you know that I'll be wearing pink!
Rink rink rink, sink sink sink
Link link link link pink pink pink!
It... is the finest colour in existence, don't you think?
I have a pink umbrella, knapsack, skateboard, pen and ink
I idolize flamingoes, I would be one in a wink
'Cause then I'd know for sure I'd be forever in the pink!
Think think think, ink ink ink
Wink wink wink wink pink pink pink!
My... mom brought me a yellow cup and offered me a drink
But as you might imagine, I created quite a stink!
I said, That spectral frequency is causing me to shrink
I'm begging you, dear Mother, please provide a cup that's pink!
Drink drink drink, stink stink stink
Shrink shrink shrink shrink pink pink pink!
Two... animals went out one day – a monkey and a mink –
To dig up every mineral from anthracite to zinc
They noted each rock's colour every time they heard a "clink"
And in the end agreed the most appealing ones were pink!
Mink mink mink, zinc zinc zinc
Clink clink clink clink pink pink pink!
Pink pink pink, pink pink pink
Pink pink pink pink pink pink pink

Home School Kids
02:38
|
|||
We're a group of students who do not go to school
We learn lessons everywhere, it's really very cool
We don't have report cards, we don't have a bell
Every day's a never-ending show and tell
Chorus:
Because we're...
Home school kids, home school kids
We've got lots of bright ideas beneath our lids
Home school kids, home school kids
We chose to stay home and we are glad we did
Just like different gardens are good for different seeds
We each have a program tailored to our needs
We have a million interests we love to explore
The whole world is our classroom, who could ask for more?
We don't need a system to tell us how to be
Clever and creative, curious and free
If this sounds like something that might be right for you
Maybe you would like to try home-schooling too!

Music All Around
03:21
|
|||
There is a boy, his name is Sid, he loves to play guitar
He plays it at the skating rink, he plays it in the car
He forms the chords, he strums the strings, he loves that soulful sound
And every time he plays that thing, there's music all around
Chorus:
Music all around, music all around
Music all around, music all around
He played guitar at school one day, which was against the rule
But when those children heard him play, they said, Hey Sid, that's cool!
You've got the groove, you've got the beat, you've really got it down
We love to dance and tap our feet with music all around
So if you see a boy named Sid who's laying down a tune
Sit down a while and listen in, and you'll be smiling soon
Just hear him sing and see him play and feel that rhythm pound
And let your troubles fly away with music all around

Eat the Crust
03:42
|
|||
I was eating dinner, it was just the other night
Munching on my pizza, it was really outta sight
Then my Dad got mad at me and shouted in disgust
When you're eating pizza, son, you've got to eat the crust
Chorus:
Got to eat the crust, yeah, you've got to eat the crust
Even though that crunchy dough is something you don't trust
I said, Do I have to, Dad? and he said, Yes, you must
When you're eating pizza, son, you've got to eat the crust
I said, Crusts are boring, unexciting, dull and bland
Any other parent in the world would understand
He said, Crusts are good for you, now sit there till you eat
When those crusts have disappeared your meal will be complete
Parents can be difficult, I've noticed this before
Dad was getting cheesed off trying to win the pizza war
So when my Bro distracted him by croaking like a frog
I grabbed all my pizza crusts and fed them to the dog!
My Dad has a birthday coming up in just a week
I'll give him a present that I'm sure he'll find unique
Wrapped up in a great big box with ribbons on the ends
Ninety-seven pizza crusts donated by my friends! And I'll say ...
You got to eat the crust, Dad, you've got to eat the crust
Even though that crunchy dough is something you don't trust
He'll say, "Do I have to, son?" and I'll say, "Yes, you must –
When you're eating pizza, Dad, you've got to eat the crust
When you're eating pizza, Dad, you've got_ to_ eat_ the_ crust!

Alex Austin
03:00
|
|||
Nine years ago today, Alex Austin was born
He popped into this world on a bright and sunny morn
He jumped right up and said, I think I'll go out for a jog
But just before I do, I think I'll catch myself a frog!
Chorus:
'Cause I'm a... frog catcher, a salamander snatcher
I can capture anything alive
I'm a toad collector and a polliwog inspector
And I will be till I'm ninety-five
If it jumps, if it thumps, if it bumps, clumps or grumps
It'll never get away from me
'Cause I'm Alex Austin, and though it's exhaustin'
I capture everything I see
All the people that I meet think I'm really pretty nice
But stay out of my way, all you snakes and snails and mice
'Cause I don't care if you're tall or short, or if you're fat or thin
I'll follow you with pleasure, and I'll grab you with a grin!
I never hurt those animals, and I don't keep them, but
When I get something great, I take it to the Nature Hut
So if you see me crawling through the woods, you'll know I'm having fun
Someday I'll have enough to give one frog to everyone (in the whole wide world)

Look Around
01:14
|
|||
Look around the world, it's true:
There's nobody quite like you
No one has your smile, your face
No one else can take your place ...
That's why there's one simple rule
Be yourself, and you'll be cool!
(Repeat)

The Greedy Dog
02:25
|
|||
Oh... once there was a greedy dog who had a piece of steak
He stole it from a butcher shop and ran down to the lake
He thought he saw another dog who also had some meat
He growled and snarled and snapped and barked, saying,
Give me that to eat!
Chorus:
Ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff
Ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff (ruff, ruff!)
Ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff
Ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff
But... when he opened up his mouth the steak fell in the lake
He couldn't get it back again, so he said, For goodness sake!
I shouldn't have been so greedy, shouldn't have tried to get another
And then that greedy dog ran home a-crying to his mother
So... if you're in a butcher shop and have a piece of meat
Don't take it to the water's edge and drop it in the creek
'Cause then that steak would never find its way into a stew
And all of us would have to sing the same song a-bout you!
His... mother told him, Things like this can certainly annoy ya
Next time, instead of steak why not try something made of soya?
And then you won't have disappointing things like this to go through
I really think you're better off with something made of tofu!

Caterwaul
03:10
|
|||
I am a black domestic cat and Seamus is my name
My life is very comfortable, I don't like to complain
But there's a thing that happens here that drives me round the bend
So I've composed this protest song to make the torture end
The humans who attend to me are quite a clever breed
I've trained them very carefully to meet my every need
But now and then they do this thing that leaves me petrified
They drag an evil monster out that makes me run and hide
Chorus:
They turn the vacuum cleaner on
They turn the vacuum cleaner on
Oh, nothing could be meaner, oh no, nothing turns me greener
Than to turn the vacuum cleaner on
With catnip and a cat nap I'm contented as can be
When all at once that beast appears and forces me to "flea"
It's roaring and it's hissing and it's moving all around
I know it's trying to capture me and swallow me right down
The humans say the blasted thing is there to eat the dust
They laugh at my discomfort and suggest that I adjust
They tell me that it's harmless as they stand there with a grin
Well, they can try forever, they will never suck me in!
When someone opens up the fridge, or better still, a can
The sound is music to my ears, I'm sure you understand
But when I hear that monster with its terrifying roar
This feline makes a beeline for the nearest open door
Those humans must be breaking several cat protection laws
I'll fight them tooth and nail if they're ignoring any "claws"
And if you think I'm "kitten" about sending them to jail
That just might be the ending to this doggone little "tail"
After last chorus:
So don't turn the vacuum cleaner on!

Circle of Song
05:05
|

Chorus:
Come join with me in the circle of song
The young and the old, the weak and the strong
Singing with one voice, though we may speak different tongues
In the circle of song we are one
Some sing of the past, of battles lost and won
Some sing of their dreams of a new day in the sun
Some sing out for love and some sing just for fun
In the circle of song we are one
Some sing of this land or the country of their birth
Some sing of this land for the beauty of the earth
Some sing of this land for all that it is worth
In the circle of song we are one
Each of us must leave this place and go back to our home
Each of us must walk a path that must be walked alone
Each of us will bear the fruit of the seeds that we have sown
In the circle of song we are one
